Eugene J Zurlo (Gene), a resident of Charleston, SC, is a graduate of Fordham University (in Pharmacy) and has had a career as a healthcare executive (Baxter Healthcare, New York Blood Center), entrepreneur (founder of Alpine Biologics Inc. and Plasma Technologies LLC), and inventor of patented medical devices and pharmaceutical processes.
He is Co-founder/Chairman emeritus of the Catholic Radio Association, trustee emeritus of Christendom College (Front Royal, VA), trustee of the Witherspoon Institute (Princeton), director of the National Catholic Bioethics Center (Philadelphia), director of the Institute for Psychological Sciences (Arlington, VA), director of the Roper St. Francis Hospital Foundation (Charleston, SC), and director of the Clinical Biotechnology Research Institute (Charleston, SC).
Gene and his wife Charlotte have been married 53 years and are the parents of Luanne Zurlo (New York and DC) and Paul Zurlo (Duxbury, MA), and grandparents of Ella and Katy Zurlo.
Chuck Haas has over fourteen years of sales and business development management experience with Intel Corporation. At Intel, he managed corporate business development, focusing on opportunities in the broadband computer communications area. Chuck Haas co-founded Covad Communications in 1996, where he held various senior management positions in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Operations and General Management. Covad grew to over $350 million in revenues and was listed on the NASDAQ stock market. He also co-founded MetroFi, Inc. in 2002 and served as its Chief Executive Officer until October 2008. Chuck is currently the acting-CFO at Immaculate Heart Radio.
Chuck serves on the Board of Legatus, and has completed six years on the Board of the Northern California/Northern Nevada Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
He is married with three beautiful children. Chuck is a graduate of Virginia Tech, Class of ’82 with BS in Computer Science.
Doug Sherman – President & Founder, Immaculate Heart Radio
Doug Sherman was born and raised in Pasadena and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from the University of Southern California. Doug and Janet have been married for 48 years, and have lived in Lake Tahoe since 1972 where Doug started a successful homebuilding business. They have 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
Doug is the Founder and President of Immaculate Heart Radio, having started its first station in Reno/Lake Tahoe in January of 1997. Together with another couple in Lake Tahoe, Doug and Janet started Thomas Aquinas School in Tahoe City in 1994, and were founding Board members of the National Association of Private Catholic and Independent Schools. They are also members of Legatus, and Doug is a co-founder and current Chairman of the Catholic Radio Association, an organization that has been vitally important in the growth of Catholic Radio from only six stations in 1997 to now over 350 stations and translators throughout the country. Thirty-three of those stations and translators are Immaculate Heart Radio stations.
