Bay Area Catholic for June 1, 2013

Bay Area Catholic PodcastSolemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

  • Christ fully present to us, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, in the Blessed Sacrament. St. Thomas Aquinas composed a prayer in the 13th Century about it—Panis Angelicus (Angelic Bread). The famous Irish tenors, The Three Priests, sing it for us.
  • Father John Hampsch continues our conversation about the miracles in his life, and God’s loving Gifts (Charisms). He’ll speak at the upcoming Magnificat Prayer Breakfast in San Ramon.
  • About 50 priests serving us in the Bay Area are from India, where the Apostle Thomas evangelized shortly after Christ’s Resurection. Today, India’s “St. Thomas Christians”  are a powerful Catholic evangelical global missionary force, and they generate the Indian Church’s international “Jesus Youth Movement.” An expression of this is  Rex Band. (Rex for the King, Christ.) Members of the band join Ed from India and the South Bay to inspire us with how they are living the Faith. They begin their third USA tour next month in Cupertino, and will fly down to Rio to perform at World Youth Day 2013. They promise to Skype into Bay Area Catholic to report on WYD. Today, their music will engage your heart and mind.
  • The Acts of the Apostles continues with in today’s chapters from the Truth and Life Audio Bible. Actor Michael York plays the Evangelist, Luke, author of Acts. Travel back with us two thousand years.
