Walk for Life West Coast draws 50,000 participants

walkforlifePro-life supporters filled San Francisco’s Civic Center Plaza on Saturday at the 9th annual Walk for Life West Coast. An estimated 50,000 people gathered for the rally at Civic Center Plaza before walking the 2 mile route through the city’s financial and shopping districts.  Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone gave the invocation at the rally and told the crowd,

“You are a powerful witness that God’s truth cannot be silenced. Yes, we are here to stay because life is good and life is holy.”

Immaculate Heart Radio broadcast live from the event, with Bob Dunning, Toni Berry, Ed Horodko and Ludy Lopez conducting interviews of participants and pro-life leaders.

Pope Benedict XVI showed his support for all those marching to promote a culture of life by sending out a tweet on January 25th. The pope tweeted, “I join all those marching for life from afar, and pray that political leaders will protect the unborn and promote a culture of life.”
