Walk for World Water Day

This Sunday, March 29 is World Water Day and folks in Orange County will be walking to raise awareness and funds for drilling water wells in Uganda, Africa with Wells of Life.

Santa Margarita High School will host the event from 12 noon – 3 p.m. Participants will have a chance to experience what it’s like to haul water in Uganda — walking several miles, carrying 5 gallon containers, weighing 44 lbs.

“The day will be devoted to our Holy Father, Pope Francis, in recognition of his call to serve others, especially the poor,” said Wells of Life founder Nick Jordan.

Jordan was moved to create the Wells for Life foundation after a trip to Uganda in 2008…

“I was overcome by the poverty, by the fact that young girls couldn’t get an education because they were needed to fetch water each day and most of all, the tragic deaths of children because of the lack of clean water.

At that time I, along with Trevor Stevenson of Fields of Life, decided to co-found Wells of Life and bring clean water to those precious children of Africa.

Since Wells of Life’s inception, we have made a huge difference in the lives of those children and their families.  To date we have funded 100 water wells that will bring clean water to over 100,000 villagers!  Not only does clean water save the lives of children, but it allows them to go to school and receive an education as well as saving the women of the village from having to haul 44 pounds of water (the weight of 5 gallons of water) over several miles each day.

In the 5 years since I first witnessed the powerful effects of a water well, we have changed the lives of 100,000 people. Every single person received the gift of life for as little as a $6.00 donation. We believe this serves as one of the most effective and measurable forms of giving.  In a simple yet effective collaboration, we have joined CEO’s and school children in providing the most basic of all human rights – Water.

This is the true vision of Wells of Life, saving lives…one at a time…one well and one community at a time. Come join us in this lifesaving work.”

Sunday’s Walk for Water is open to everyone, bring your walking group, family, friends and co-workers.

San Diego Tower Upgrade is In Progress!

San Diego Tower Upgrade is In Progress!

In an effort to expand our signal in Southern California, we are working to double the current output of our station KCEO, 1000am in Oceanside CA.  This should increase coverage further south into San Diego proper and further north into more parts of Orange County.

During this upgrade process, we will be forced to decrease signal strength throughout the day at various times.  At some point in the process, the station will briefly be off the air (during the evening) for a few hours.  We apologize for the inconvenience of this, but are eagerly awaiting the benefits of the increased signal.

San Diego’s Catholic Radio Gets Permission to Upgrade

OCEANSIDE — The Oceanside Planning Commission unanimously approved a permit on August 13, for a additional radio tower for KCEO, AM 1000 and a doubling of its broadcast power. The station became part of the Immaculate Heart Radio network in March, and has been broadcasting 24-hour-per-day Catholic programming since.

When taking ownership, Immaculate Heart Radio inherited an FCC permit to improve the broadcast radius of the station, but needed City of Oceanside approval to construct a new tower and remove an old one.Read more
