Remembering Mother Angelica

Mother Mary Angelica, of the Annunciation, the founder of EWTN passed away on Easter Sunday.

“Mother Angelica was an incredible woman of faith who changed the face of the Church in America by broadcasting the truth and beauty of our faith over the airwaves.  She was absolutely instrumental in helping us start our first station 20 years ago, and we’re very grateful for all of her help since then. “ – Doug Sherman, Founder and President of Immaculate Heart Radio

Mother Angelica is considered the founder of modern Catholic television and radio broadcasting. Founding EWTN in 1981, she began the ministry that now reaches more than 200 million households around the world.  Mother Angelica lead EWTN for 20 years before stepping down in the early 2000’s following a stroke that severely limited her speech and mobility.

“Mother has always and will always personify EWTN, the network that God asked her to found, Her accomplishments and legacies in evangelization throughout the world are nothing short of miraculous and can only be attributed to divine Providence and her unwavering faithfulness to Our Lord.” –” EWTN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Warsaw. “
