Lent2013_580“Through fasting and praying, we allow Him to come and satisfy the deepest hunger that we experience in the depths of our being: the hunger and thirst for God.” – Pope Benedict

The season of Lent is quickly approaching! In addition to abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent, it is encouraged to make an individual sacrifice that will help you grow in holiness during this season. If you’re still stumped on what to give up (or take on) for Lent this year, check out these lists to help you make the most of this holy season:

Catholic School Chronicle has a list of 101 Practical Fasting Ideas for Lent. This list helps you match your sacrifice with your own personal spiritual state. It has ideas for those in need of spiritual nourishment, those who need to be more grateful, those with lives out of balance, and more!

Catholic All Year has a list called Outside the Box: 66 Things to Give Up or Take Up for Lent (In Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced). What’s great about this list is that it has ideas for personal sacrifices, but tailored to what you want (or are able) to take on this Lent. So whether you want to really dive into Lent or feel like you can barely sacrifice anything else in your life, Catholic All Year is here to help!
